Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) in Huntsville, AL seeks a Senior Principal Software Engineer to advance Java and C++ based systems on critical defense programs. This on-site role requires an active DoD Secret clearance and involves development, integration, and performance optimization across multiple software products.

You will design, code, test, and document software while collaborating with cross-functional teams to support Linux environments, RHEL tooling, and OSS practices.

Qualifications

• BS or higher STEM degree with 8+ years experience or Master's in STEM with 5 years experience
• Active DoD Secret Clearance
• Demonstrated experience in C++
• Knowledge of GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, Jira and Confluence
• Experience with Linux operating systems
• Ability to work on-site in Huntsville, AL

Responsibilities

• Analyze, support, design, test and provide user support for systems software
• Maintain current baseline, debug, and configure related software products
• Develop or modify OS applications from specifications
• Assist with design, coding, benchmark testing, debugging and documentation
• Collaborate with system support groups to set standards and improve OS efficiency
• Design, code, test and implement tools for operations automation
• Participate in multiple phases of software systems programming
