Job summary

Sandia National Laboratories is seeking a Cleared Senior/Principal R&D Mechanical Engineer–Component Engineer, onsite, to support Ferroelectric Neutron Generator (FENG) products. You will engage in sustainment, R&D for performance and manufacturability, and design activities establishing the technical basis for modernization.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience; DOE Q clearance or equivalent is required, with Sigma 15 willingness.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with 5 years of directly relevant experience or equivalent
Active DOE Q-level security clearance or equivalent; willingness to obtain Sigma 15 access
Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred
Experience with mechanical design, CAD software (CREO) and GD&T
Experience with ND product development cycle and engineering documentation systems

Responsibilities

Support sustainment and assessment of FENG products and lifetime estimation algorithms
Perform design activities to modernize and improve manufacturability
Coordinate with systems partners to refine requirements and product definition
Collaborate with technologists to build prototypes and transition to production
Lead investigations and implement corrective actions for significant findings
Document results and communicate through reports and presentations
