Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an accomplished aerospace systems engineer to perform modeling and simulation in support of advanced air vehicle concepts. The role emphasizes evaluation of new requirements, mission engineering, and cross-disciplinary communication to align capabilities with mission needs.

The ideal candidate will have extensive MATLAB/Python/C/C++ programming experience, hands-on analysis of radar and sensor payloads, and a TS clearance or active EA with SAP eligibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of related engineering experience
• Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or current enrollment in Continuous Evaluation
• Ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time
• Familiarity with advanced air and space assets and associated technologies
• Knowledge of low observables, electronic warfare, radar modeling/analysis, RF/IR/EO/acoustic modeling/analysis, survivability analysis, countermeasures, operations, sensor payloads, and ground stations
• Ability to work independently and in a team in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to brief technical approach and status to senior management
• Familiarity with Linux and/or Unix-based development
• Knowledge of domain‑specific radar principles, including signal processing, target acquisition, target tracking, resource management, discrimination, and battle manager interfaces
• Experience with air vehicle sensors, data processing/fusion, data links, navigation, or vehicle control
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, C#, C/C++, or other advanced programming languages
• Familiarity with USAF modeling and simulation tools such as AFSIM, Suppressor, ESAMS, STK, or other engagement or mission‑level models
• U.S. Citizenship required for positions with a government clearance

Responsibilities

• Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis to support program development, execution, and related research and development projects
• Support development or assessment of new requirements
• Evaluate advanced air vehicle concepts and technologies
• Support mission engineering activities
• Trade performance capabilities of new systems and architectures against cost and mission requirements
• Develop mission-relevant scenarios
• Assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in threat environments
• Communicate across engineering disciplines and technology areas to integrate capabilities
