Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead a design team from concept to final design for a space-based vehicle. You will oversee PDPs, MBOM reviews, and cross-functional integration with electrical and other teams.

The role requires 8+ years of relevant experience, a current Secret clearance, and expertise in CAD (Siemens NX) and MBSE concepts. You will work in a fast-paced environment with diverse, high-stake projects and ongoing program milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related STEM.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Must have an active Secret clearance at time of application.
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP approval within a reasonable period.
• 5+ years of experience with CAD modeling (Siemens NX preferred).
• Familiar with ISO, ASME, Mil Spec, NAS and similar standards.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to changing directions.
• Proficient written and verbal communication skills for technical content.
• Knowledge of GD&T, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Must have 2+ years experience leading Mechanical Engineering and/or technical teams.
• Mechanical design experience for hypersonic systems, flight systems, and/or missiles.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of design engineers from conceptual to final design for a space-based vehicle.
• Attend internal program, customer and supplier technical exchanges.
• Support program milestone reviews with progress updates.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with diverse assignments and team collaboration across levels.
• Coordinate between electrical design and other integration teams.
• Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
• Develop PDPs/ADPs and take them through review and release.
• Review MBOMs, data sheets, ICDs, specs, and analyses.
• Conduct research, trade studies, and system integration analyses for SWaP and mass properties.
• Demonstrate leadership and strong interpersonal skills across the organization.
