Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Flight Software Engineer (Level 3/4) to join the Western Region Software Engineering Directorate in Redondo Beach, CA. The role focuses on designing and verifying flight software for embedded, real-time systems, collaborating across engineering disciplines in an Agile setting.

Applicants must hold a U.S. government Secret clearance and have strong C/C++ and Python skills, with Linux experience and familiarity with Docker/Jenkins CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5+ years of software or engineering experience; Master's 3+ years; Ph.D. 1+ years.
• Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance required at time of application.
• Strong background in embedded C/C++ development with OO and thread-safe programming.
• Experience integrating and troubleshooting embedded software in a lab environment.
• Proficiency with Python.
• Experience writing driver-level software for serial or networking applications (UART, TCP, UDP).
• Experience developing in a Linux environment.
• Experience with Agile software development using Atlassian tools (Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence) and Git.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and verify/test flight software for embedded and real-time systems.
• Collaborate with Systems, Digital, Hardware, and Integration & Test teams in an Agile environment.
• Understand system requirements and implement and debug software to meet completion criteria.
