Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer/Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer for our Charlottesville, VA site. You will contribute to a digital transformation using Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile practices to deliver defense software and systems.

You will join a team developing world-class software across the Multidomain Sensing, Targeting, and Survivability division, collaborating with customers, suppliers, and engineers through the full SDLC.

Qualifications

• Degree in a STEM field with significant relevant engineering experience.
• Strong C/C++ programming experience and OO design skills.
• Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, etc.).
• Experience developing embedded software on Linux or VxWorks RTOS.
• Familiarity with software architecture, design patterns, and OOD.
• Experience with DevOps CI/CD pipelines and Agile workflows.
• Version control experience with Git family tools and related planning tools.
• Modeling tools such as CAMEO or Rational used in design.
• US Citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance; occasional travel.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, operate, and maintain embedded software and firmware components.
• Apply standard processes and lifecycle practices to deliver engineering apps and products.
• Interface with customers, suppliers, and users across the lifecycle.
• Follow SDLC practices: requirements, design, coding, testing, integration, and verification.
