Job summary

AST SpaceMobile seeks a Sr. Principal Device Validation Engineer to lead readiness and validation of direct-to-device wireless services.

You will partner with chipset vendors, device OEMs, and operators to validate performance and drive device certification across the network. The ideal candidate combines deep mobile modem expertise with strong customer-facing skills, guiding field testing, onboarding, and commercial launch activities while mentoring teams and shaping test methodologies for LTE

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field as listed, with related experience.
• Advanced degree preferred for engineering leadership roles.
• Minimum 12 years in mobile device validation or related field.
• Strong background in LTE/5G, device certification, and field testing.
• Experience collaborating with chipset manufacturers and operators.

Responsibilities

• Own device validation strategy for operator onboarding programs.
• Lead lab and field validation for commercial devices.
• Collaborate with chipset vendors to resolve issues.
• Serve as primary technical lead during workshops and reviews.
• Define readiness criteria, test methods, and launch requirements.
• Analyze logs and RF data to identify root causes.
• Manage defect lifecycle from identification to resolution.
• Maintain device compatibility matrices and certification docs.
• Develop technical reports and performance recommendations.
• Mentor engineering teams on device behavior and testing.
