Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Senior Principal Data Scientist to support the Sentinel program from either Roy, Utah or Manhattan Beach, California. The Division Analytics team will collaborate with frontend data visualization specialists and product stakeholders to develop, deploy, and maintain data pipelines drawn from authoritative data sources for metrics and analytics.

Qualifications

• Eight years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; six years with a Master’s; four years with a PhD; or four additional years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance with SAP eligibility.
• Proficiency in writing, optimizing, and troubleshooting complex SQL queries.
• Experience managing and maintaining SQL databases.
• Experience defining and tracking KPIs and metrics related to business and engineering analytics.
• Expertise in developing and managing ETL processes.
• Advanced proficiency in Python for data analysis, manipulation, and automation.
• Proficient with version control systems such as Git.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies for project management.
• Strong communication skills to present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with a cross functional team of professionals dedicated to analytics and data solutions.
• Engage with program teams across the full scope to capture analytics needs and data modeling requirements.
• Contribute to the architecture and construction of data pipelines connected to multiple program ASoTs.
• Apply data engineering practices to manage infrastructure, storage, and transformation of data for scalable analytics.
• Develop and publish Tableau dashboards and visualizations used by program stakeholders at all levels.
• Leverage advanced data science techniques to create analytical solutions that yield program insights.
• Operate within an Agile framework focused on delivering outcomes for stakeholders.
• Recommend process improvements to business leaders to enhance efficiency.
• Build, deploy, and maintain data pipelines from authoritative data sources needed for metrics and analytics.
