Job summary

Prellis Biologics seeks a Senior/Principal Scientist in Berkeley to drive antibody design and optimization within the High Throughput Discovery group. You will mature early hits into development-ready leads, reformats across modalities, and build an integrated wet-lab and computational platform.

Ideal candidates have a PhD with 5+ years in antibody engineering, strong cloning and library construction skills, and experience with high-content screening.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Protein Engineering or related field; Sr. Scientist (PhD+3–5 yrs) or Principal Scientist (PhD+5+ yrs).
• Hands-on biologics reformatting across multiple modalities (scFv, scFv‑Fc, Fab, Fc fusions, VHH).
• Experience optimizing antibody leads (affinity, developability, Fc) and screening with high-content imaging (iQue, MACSQuantor).
• Computational fluency: PyMOL, Schrödinger BioLuminate/Maestro; at least one protein language model (ESM, RFdiffusion, ProteinMPNN).
• Strong cloning, mutagenesis and DNA library construction; mentorship and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead antibody engineering with emphasis on late-stage design to advance leads toward development.
• Reformat biologics across modalities and assemble multispecifics (knobs‑in‑hole, CrossMab, DVD‑Ig).
• Oversee Fc engineering, affinity maturation, and developability polishing.
• Design and execute screening & library campaigns; translate workflows to automation; ML training-data campaigns.
• Collaborate with Data Science/ AI teams on protein language models and structural tools.
