Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Aeronautical Engineer OR Sr. Principal Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical Systems Responsible Engineer) to join our Air Vehicle Subsystems and Architecture team in Melbourne, FL.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 5 years of relevant experience; OR Master’s with 3 years; OR PhD with 1 year.
• Sr Principal: Bachelor’s with 8 years; Master’s with 6 years; PhD with 4 years.
• U.S. Citizenship required
• Active Secret clearance (with background investigation within past 6 years or Continuous Evaluation)
• Ability to obtain and maintain SAP clearance prior to employment

Responsibilities

• Support landing gear and mechanical system design, hardware selection, placement, preliminary sizing, and integration into configurations.
• Provide mechanisms design support to subsystems (drive systems, door uplocks for in-flight operations).
• Develop system requirements, specifications, and supplier SOWs; craft architecture and diagrams for interfaces across power, cooling, signals, hydraulics, and structure.
• Act as primary technical interface between NGAS and supplier SMEs.
• Participate in program, customer, and supplier reviews to share progress and gather input.
• Coordinate with multiple engineering teams across configuration, structures, sub-systems, and supplier management.
• Produce engineering design guidance and manuals, test reports, certifications, and design documents.
• Learn Cost Account Management and Earned Value Management for multiple accounts.
