Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer in Melbourne, FL. Work on lab and aircraft equipment design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing with a 9/80 schedule and no remote work option.

Required: a mechanical engineering or STEM degree with 6–8+ years of related design experience, NX proficiency, and ability to obtain/maintain DoD security clearances (Secret or higher). Salary ranges up to $184,200.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s in mechanical engineering, or STEM degree, plus 8 years of related experience, or 6 years with a Master’s, or 4 years with a PhD.
  • Knowledge of NX mechanical design or other parametric design tool.
  • Knowledge of networks and Microsoft computer skills are required.
  • Experience with design, mechanical drawings, models and design documentation
  • Understanding of test engineering concepts
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain/Sustain SAP
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearances

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and test mechanical components, equipment, and systems for aerospace programs.
  • Develop and modify test station design documents and BOMs.
  • Coordinate with supply chain, operations, QA, and other teams to meet schedule and budget.
  • Develop Acceptance Test Procedures for test stations.
  • Create and integrate mechanical designs using NX or similar tools.
  • Document laboratory system designs and integration for aerospace labs and aircraft equipment.
