Job summary

Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems – Research & Advanced Design (R&AD) in Redondo Beach, CA, has an opening for a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer – Dynamics & Aeroelastics. You will lead aeroelastic design activities, build and validate models, and contribute to cutting-edge defense programs.

The role requires a STEM degree with 5+ years (or higher) and proficiency with FEMAP/NASTRAN, plus ability to obtain a US Secret clearance and SAP.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 5 years of related engineering experience.
• Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience.
• PhD in STEM with 1 year of related engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Establish aeroelastic design criteria for advanced designs.
• Plan projects to determine program requirements and execution.
• Generate and validate structural dynamic & aeroelastic FEM models.
• Perform modal analysis and correlate with test data.
• Conduct aeroelastic analysis including flutter and gust loads.
• Support validation tests and internal/external briefings.
