Job summary

Inotiv seeks an experienced primate program specialist to oversee environmental enrichment, breeding strategies, and behavioral management for nonhuman primates. You will collaborate with veterinary teams to ensure exemplary welfare and program success.

Responsibilities include leading enrichment initiatives, coordinating breeding groups, and conducting temperament and social compatibility assessments, all while maintaining rigorous documentation and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
• LATG certification preferred.
• 8+ years professional experience with old-world primate species.
• 2–3 years behavioral study of nonhuman primates.
• Understanding of the Animal Welfare Act.

Responsibilities

• Implement environmental enhancement plan for nonhuman primates with veterinary/behavioral teams.
• Support macaque breeding program to promote well-being and reproduction.
• Collaborate with Breeding Coordinators and Veterinary Technicians for breeding groups.
• Develop and manage species-specific breeding strategies and group management.
• Create weaning strategies for optimal weanling development.
• Advise on social reintroductions of animals to groups.
• Identify abnormal behaviors and coordinate enrichment plans.
• Lead colony alopecia management and behavior observations.
• Train staff and participate in client communications and audits.
• Maintain and improve AAALAC program documentation.
