Job summary

Inotiv seeks an experienced primate behavior specialist to lead breeding strategies, enrichment planning, and social group management for nonhuman primates. You will collaborate with veterinary and behavioral teams to promote wellbeing and successful reproduction while maintaining high standards of care.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in a related field or equivalent experience, plus 8+ years with old-world primates and 2–3 years of behavioral study.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in a relevant field; combination of education and experience may be considered.
• AALAS LATG certification preferred.
• 8+ years of professional experience with old-world primates.
• 2–3 years of behavioral study with nonhuman primates.
• Knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act and lab animal management.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and with diverse teams.
• Mandatory TB tests; willingness for variable hours and conditions.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage breeding strategies meeting species-specific behaviors.
• Form and maintain compatible breeding groups.
• Develop weaning strategies for optimal development.
• Advise on enrichment and housing to promote species-typical behavior.
• Train nonhuman primates for husbandry and research tasks using positive reinforcement.
• Lead colony alopecia management and temperament assessments.
• Schedule routine behavioral observations for social cohorts.
• Participate in AAALAC descriptions and SOP updates; train staff.
• Assist with infant foster-mentor program placements.
