Job description

Veterinarian Extern role at Inotiv.

A veterinary extern will gain knowledge and skills that contribute to a future career in veterinary medicine in the lab animal field, while also advancing therapeutic and behavioral interventions that enhance the health and well‑being of nonhuman primates. Nonhuman primates play a vital role in life‑saving research benefiting humans and animals, and ongoing assessment of standard and novel treatments ensures a high quality of care.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Attending Veterinarian with data gathering and evaluation to assess efficacy of various therapeutic interventions.
  • Conduct animal health rounds with clinical veterinary staff.
  • Participate with clinical veterinary staff in new clinical case admission triage and ongoing case follow‑up.
  • Administer treatments under the direction of the clinical veterinary staff.
  • Conduct behavioral and alopecia assessment under the direction of a behaviorist.
  • Participate in weekly veterinary round discussions with site and corporate veterinary teams.
  • Identify a scientific aim in collaboration with the AV and prepare a brief scientific presentation and/or poster on data gathered.

Salary. This position may be offered at different levels for candidates who qualify with a combination of advanced levels of education and/or years of experience. The salary range will adjust along with the level of the role to match the person’s relevant experience and/or education level.
