Job summary

Fortis Construction in Portland, OR is seeking a Preconstruction Manager to lead the preconstruction process, develop cost models and estimates, and coordinate a diverse team of estimators, E/A and consultants.

You will present findings to clients, manage deliverables, and drive risk assessment, procurement decisions, and successful project execution throughout the preconstruction phase. Proficiently use AI and BIM tools to support accurate, compelling proposals.

Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of estimating, preconstruction and/or construction experience.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CM/engineering/architecture.
• Knowledge of construction methods and project execution.
• Ability to lead and develop a team.
• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Provide conceptual cost modeling to a high level of confidence.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for projects of all sizes and complexity.
• Develop and review/project purchasing plans and bid packages.
• Assist operations leaders with risk, procurement and project execution.
• Coordinate and manage a team of estimators establishing a preconstruction work plan.
• Present and support work to internal and external clients.
• Manage all preconstruction deliverables to a client.
• Lead reviews of work products for accuracy and quality.
• Lead the preconstruction team with trade partners, estimators, A/E and consultants.
• Proficiently use AI and BIM tools to Fortis’ advantage.
• Negotiate aspects of work with owners and trade partners.
• Develop relationships and contribute to business development.
• Manage at least one team member including hiring and development.
• Assist in other duties as assigned.
