Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Power Transmission & Distribution Engineer/Project Manager in Illinois to lead transmission, distribution, and substation projects from planning through closeout.

You will grow client relationships, manage multi-disciplinary teams, and own project delivery including schedules, budgets, and risk management. The ideal candidate has ABET-accredited engineering credentials, 7+ years in T&D, and experience with NESC/IEEE/NERC standards, ETAP/SKM/CYME/PLS-CADD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited institution (or related ABET program)
• 7+ years of T&D experience in consulting or utility environments
• 3+ years managing power industry projects
• Working knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NERC and relevant utility standards
• Proficiency with ETAP, SKM, CYME, PLS-CADD or similar
• Design experience for 69kV to 500kV systems preferred
• Strong communication skills and ability to present complex information to stakeholders
• Experience managing project financials, forecasting, scope, schedules, contracts and risk
• Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission, distribution and substation projects from planning through closeout
• Manage project scheduling, budgets, forecasting, scope and risk
• Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (electrical, civil, survey, environmental)
• Develop engineering drawings, specs and cost estimates
• Perform line routing, load flow, short circuit analyses and coordination studies
• Provide client-facing leadership and project execution oversight
• Mentor team members and support business development and proposals
