Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. in Illinois seeks an Electrical Project Engineer to serve as a senior technical lead for the planning, design, and execution of electrical building systems.

You will own discipline deliverables from schematic design through construction, mentor junior staff, interface with clients and architects, and help develop department standards. A PE license and 8–12+ years of electrical design experience are required, with a hybrid work arrangement available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field.
• Typically, 8-12+ years of electrical design experience for building systems.
• PE license required.
• Strong experience delivering electrical designs for commercial, healthcare, institutional, or complex facilities
• Advanced knowledge of codes, constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination.
• Proficient in Revit and AutoCAD; capable of detailed construction documents and specs.
• Proven ability to lead projects, mentor staff, and manage multiple priorities without sacrificing quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical system design for building projects, including service distribution, normal and emergency power, lighting, and related systems.
• Own deliverables from schematic design through bidding and construction with quality and coordination.
• Prepare, review, and approve calculations, equipment selections, drawings, and specifications.
• Manage budgets, schedules, staffing, and project priorities with PMs and leaders.
• Interface with clients, architects, contractors, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain momentum.
• Lead construction administration tasks, including submittals, RFIs, site observations, and issue resolution.
• Mentor junior engineers, provide technical reviews, and support department standards.
• Assist with proposals, project setup, fee planning, and business development input.
