Job summary

Electric Power Engineers, LLC in the United States is seeking a Senior Engineer with a strong background in EMT modelling and power system studies to support our Utilities team. You will collaborate with senior leadership to coach staff and provide expert advisory to clients.

Responsibilities include EMT studies, local EMT model development, steady-state analysis, and mentoring junior engineers while maintaining project quality and budget objectives.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in power system modelling and power system studies.
• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Electrical Engineering with power system emphasis.
• Experience with control system tuning is a plus.
• Experience with HVDC system is a plus.

Responsibilities

• EMT Studies: Perform power system studies such as subsynchronous resonance, control interaction, ferroresonance, temporary overvoltage (TOV), switching overvoltage (SOV), insulation coordination, harmonic, transient recovery voltage (TRV), energization, lightning etc.
• Model Development: Develop local system EMT models. perform disturbance ride through model tuning and perform PSCAD/PSSE model benchmarking.
• Steady State Studies: Perform steady state studies such as load flow and short circuit.
• Technology: Proficiency in power system modelling software such as PSCAD, EMTP, PSSE, Digsilent Powerfactory, PSSE, ETAP, CYMCAP
• Compliance: Strong understanding of relevant industry standards such as IEEE/IEC/CICRE.
• Client Engagement: Provide advisory support to generation, large load and merchant transmission developers. Take responsibility for the timely completion of projects assigned while meeting all project quality and budget objectives.
• Technical Leadership: Lead, teach and mentor junior level Power Systems Engineers.
