Job summary

Electric Power Engineers (EPE) is seeking a Power Systems Engineer with EMT modelling and power system studies experience. Join our Energy Resources team to work with senior engineers, coach staff, and deliver technical solutions for clients.

The role emphasizes developing dynamic models, conducting steady-state analyses, and applying industry standards to grid modeling challenges. Remote-friendly, with opportunities to influence grid modernization and energy intelligence software solutions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; emphasis in power systems preferred.
2–4+ years of experience in EMT modelling and power systems studies.
Experience with PSCAD, PSSE, ETAP, etc.
Experience leveraging AI and automation tools to improve quality, productivity and innovation.

Responsibilities

EMT Studies: Perform power system studies such as temporary overvoltage, switching overvoltage, insulation coordination, harmonic, flicker, transient recovery voltage, energization, lightning, etc.
Model Development: Develop dynamic generator/load models, perform disturbance ride through model tuning and model benchmarking.
Steady State Studies: Perform load flow, short circuit and power quality studies.
Technology: Proficiency in PSCAD, PSSE, ETAP or equivalents; familiarity with CDEGS, COMSOL, WinIGS, CYMCAP.
Compliance: Strong understanding of IEEE/IEC/CIGRE standards.
