Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to lead load flow, short circuit and arc flash studies for our BOP-focused transmission and generation assets. You will maintain ETAP models and support PSSE/PSLF/TSAT/PSCAD simulations, ensuring compliance with NERC PRC-024/028/029, MOD-026-2 and ERCOT NOGRR-245.

This role requires 7+ years in power systems, a PE is preferred, and willingness to travel 20–25% to field sites.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Physics.
• Professional Engineer (PE) is highly preferred.
• 7+ years in power systems engineering focusing on short circuit and arc flash studies.
• 7+ years of experience with high-voltage power systems equipment.
• 7+ years of experience in electric power generation, generation management, and automatic generation control.
• Knowledge of power generation and distribution equipment, transformers, switchgear, and substations.
• Familiarity with NERC standards and related codes and safety standards.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review short circuit studies and arc flash hazard analyses for electrical systems.
• Approve study reports.
• Recommend mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy levels.
• Prepare technical documentation such as one-line diagrams and protective device coordination.
• Develop and maintain accurate electrical system models using ETAP.
• Collaborate with project teams to gather data and validate inputs.
• Provide training and mentorship on electrical safety and power system analysis.
• Support NERC standards compliance and audits.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline power system study methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, OSHA regulations, NEC, and NESC.
• Travel to sites 20-25% of the time.
