Job summary

RWE Americas, LLC is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to support balance of plant electrical systems for renewable assets. You will lead load flow, arc flash, and protective coordination studies, maintain ETAP models, and manage PSSE/PSLF/TSAT/PSCAD simulations. Travel 20-25% to sites.

The role requires a PE (preferred) and 7+ years in high-voltage power systems with a focus on generation, distribution, and compliance with NERC and ERCOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering, or Physics.
• PE license is highly preferred.
• Minimum 7 years in power systems engineering focusing on short circuit and arc flash studies.
• Strong knowledge of power generation and distribution equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform and review short circuit studies and arc flash hazard analyses for electrical systems.
• Approve study reports.
• Recommend mitigation strategies to reduce incident energy levels.
• Prepare technical documentation including one-line diagrams and protective device coordination.
• Develop and maintain accurate electrical system models using ETAP.
• Collaborate with project teams to gather system data and validate inputs.
• Provide training and mentorship on electrical safety and power system analysis.
• Support compliance with NERC standards (PRC-019, PRC-024, etc.) and related audits.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to streamline power system study methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584, NEC, NESC, OSHA.
