Job summary

STEPS TALENT, LLC is seeking an experienced Sr. Power Systems Engineer in Raleigh, NC to lead power system studies for utility-scale, industrial, and data center projects.

You will model, simulate, and analyze complex networks, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with regional and global teams to deliver reliable electrification solutions. The role covers grid integration, microgrids, BESS, and advanced power electronics, with on-site responsibilities and cross-functional coordination.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems or related field.
• 6 years of industrial experience performing power system studies and simulation for utility, industrial, renewable energy, microgrid, or data center applications.
• Experience modeling grid-forming and grid-following inverters.
• Understanding of converter controls and protection systems.
• Experience with data center electrical infrastructure.
• Familiarity with AI and hyperscale data center electrical architectures.
• Experience with medium-voltage distribution systems and backup generation.
• Modeling tools PSLF, EMTP-RV, CYME, EasyPower, PSCAD, Etap, PSSE, MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Conduct and lead detailed electrical system analyses for diverse projects.
• Perform Load Flow, Short Circuit, and Harmonic analyses.
• Develop models for microgrids and grid integration studies.
• Provide SME guidance to projects and internal teams.
• Support proposals and customer presentations and collaborate with global teams.
