Job summary

Black & Veatch is hiring a Staff Electrical Engineer to perform Power System Studies for distribution. This role focuses on short circuit, load flow, DER impact analyses, and coordination studies across multiple offices including Bloomington, MN.

You will model systems, guide design decisions, and collaborate with a matrix team to deliver resilient infrastructure. The ideal candidate has 5–10 years of related experience, strong analytical skills, and proficiency with CYME or Synergi Electric.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in distribution system planning studies.
• Experience with Short Circuit (Fault) Analysis, Load Flow, DER Impact Analysis, Protection Coordination Studies, Distribution Interconnection Studies, System Impact Studies.

Responsibilities

• Continues developing knowledge and may provide guidance on design guides, standards, systems, codes and BV policies.
• Independently applies knowledge and ensures quality program compliance; supports continuous improvement.
• Prepares complex engineering deliverables and calculations; manages data collection and project scope, budget and schedule.
• Coordinates with internal/external teams on moderately complex projects and communicates client interests.
