Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Power System Studies Engineer with 1-4 years’ experience to join our Power System Studies team.

The ideal candidate has working knowledge of Distribution System design concepts and analyses such as Short Circuit (Fault) Analysis, Load Flow, DER Impact Analysis, Protection Coordination Studies, Distribution Interconnection Studies, System Impact Studies and power system modeling software.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of experience in power systems engineering.
• Knowledge of distribution system design concepts and analyses.
• Experience with power system modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Continues to learn and remains current on departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and B&V policies and procedures.
• Continues developing and can independently apply knowledge; supports quality program and change management efforts.
• Prepares increasingly complex engineering deliverables; performs data collection and analyses; develops recommendations for equipment selection.
• Co-ordinates with project leadership and other team members on less complex projects; interacts with other disciplines on design details.
