Job summary

Renesas Electronics in Tempe, AZ seeks a Principal Device Design Engineer to develop cutting-edge switching power MOSFETs for 12V–80V applications. You will contribute from architecture through product characterization, exploring novel device structures and test methods to demonstrate capabilities.

You will interface with process integration engineers, consult with IC teams, and apply TCAD to optimize performance, reliability, and manufacturability while ensuring cost-effective designs.

Qualifications

• Expertise in power semiconductor devices and related physics; strong understanding of reliability and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with TCAD modeling and simulation for device design and optimization.
• Familiarity with device layout considerations and packaging/PCB parasitics.
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in a relevant field with 7+ years of semiconductor device engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-performance power switching devices based on fundamental principles and manufacturing capabilities.
• Identify critical design parameters and process variation sensitivities affecting manufacturability.
• Create simulation experiments to optimize reliability, performance, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with fab process engineers to develop new process recipes and design rules.
• Design intelligent process and layout experiments to minimize development cycle time.
• Execute test mask and product mask layouts with CAE team support.
• Define testing requirements and techniques for new technologies and assist in characterization.
• Analyze measured data to optimize device design and process.
• Provide engineering support for existing power semiconductor products to maintain yield and performance.
