Job summary

Amperesand, Inc. in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a senior power electronics engineer to design HV/MV converter stages, develop control algorithms, and validate magnetics for scalable energy infrastructure products.

You will work cross-functionally with mechanical, manufacturing and test teams, travel up to 10%, and contribute to a fast-moving startup environment with broad ownership. Focus on EMI/IEC safety and hands-on hardware development.

Qualifications

• M.S. or Ph.D. in Power Electronics, Electromagnetics or related field.
• 2+ years' experience in power conversion design.
• Strong fundamentals in power converter topologies, modulation techniques, and design trade-off analysis.
• Experience with SiC/GaN devices in high-density designs.
• Good understanding of loss mechanisms in semiconductors, passive components and magnetics.
• Proven expertise in simulation-driven design and evaluation.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC test standards and electrical safety (IEC, UL).
• Strong analytical skills to interpret simulation and test data.

Responsibilities

• Design isolated and non-isolated converter stages with advanced topologies (multi-level, cascaded H-bridges, DAB).
• Balance loss, cost, and size across semiconductors, magnetics and cooling.
• Develop modulation techniques and control algorithms for modular power stages.
• Create static and dynamic equivalent models for power stage hardware.
• Design and verify high-voltage isolation strategies across LV-MV domains.
• Use FEA to design magnetics; guide high-power, high-frequency PCBA designs.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing and test teams to own full development cycle.
