Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Woodbridge, NJ to lead the design of advanced power conversion products for aerospace and defense. You will drive development, sustaining engineering, and manufacturing handoff in a highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include leading topology studies, reliability analyses, RCCA, and integration of software-based control with inverter designs. Mentorship and cross-functional collaboration are key parts of the role.

Qualifications

• This role requires a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in power electronic design.
• Strong in power electronics and motor control.
• Hands-on schematic design for power conversion and control systems.
• Expertise with MOSFET, IGBT, SiC, and GaN devices and PWM control.
• Knowledge of buck, boost, inverter, and DC-DC topologies.
• Transformer and magnetics design experience for power conversion.
• Experience applying DFM and DFT in product development.
• Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or similarly demanding applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead conceptual and detailed design of new power conversion products.
• Approve qualification test plans and ensure DFM/DFT integration.
• Own RCCA for test failures and field returns with structured methods.
• Recommend product improvements for reliability and manufacturability.
• Develop and improve engineering processes and standards.
• Own sustaining engineering activities and derivative designs.
• Manage select small projects end-to-end with stakeholders.
• Develop technical content for proposals and RFPs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate C/C systems into inverter designs.
• Provide mentorship to junior engineers and lead small technical teams.
