Job summary

Verizon Connect is seeking an experienced Database Administrator based in the Atlanta, GA region to join our Global Database Services team. The role requires ownership of incidents, requests, backups, monitoring, and proactive escalation with a strong emphasis on automation and performance in large data environments.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years of database administration experience, deep PostgreSQL and MySQL knowledge, and scripting ability (PowerShell/Python).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant Database administration experience in a large data environment
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL and MySQL architectures and backups/restore/ PITR
• Experience with SQL/PLSQL writing and optimization
• Experience with scripting/automation (PowerShell / Python)
• Ability to work in fast paced, high volume, agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Own, track and resolve database incidents and requests.
• Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.
• Review backups, maintenance, monitoring to identify issues.
• Respond to alerts and escalations; work with engineering for fixes.
• Enhance automation for platform provisioning and monitoring.
