Job summary

Verizon Connect currently seeks an experienced Database Administrator in the Atlanta, GA region to join our Global Database Services team. This role requires ownership of production database operations, incident resolution, and proactive problem management across a high-transaction OLTP environment.

You will work in a hybrid model with on-site and remote work, performing backups, restores, monitoring, and tuning, while collaborating with DB engineering to implement scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
• Four or more years of relevant Database administration experience in a large data environment.
• Advanced knowledge of SQL Server 2019 & 2022; managing SQL Server in AWS RDS.

Responsibilities

• Own, track and resolve database incidents and requests.
• Fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs.
• Reviewing backups, maintenance, and monitoring daily to detect issues.
• Responding to alerts and escalating with DB engineering for recurring problems.
• Enhance automation for database provisioning.
• Improve monitoring and alerting to ensure proactive notifications.
