Job summary

CGS is seeking a PostgreSQL Database Developer to join a Data Analytics platform focused on federal data solutions. You will migrate from Oracle to PostgreSQL on Azure, manage PostgreSQL in Linux, and ensure high availability across hybrid environments in LA, SF, or remote.

This full-time role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and proactive monitoring with a strong focus on performance and security in cloud and on-prem setups.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• Must be US Citizenship
• 7 years of experience with administrating PostgreSQL Databases in Linux environments
• Experience with setting up, monitoring, and maintaining PostgreSQL instances
• Experience with implementing and maintaining PostgreSQL backup and disaster recovery processes
• Experience migrating Oracle schema, packages, views, triggers to Postgres using Ora2Pg tool

Responsibilities

• Migrate from Oracle to the new Microsoft Azure PostgreSQL database
• Create and maintain technical documentation using templates and know the business data
• Collaborate with internal/external parties to translate objectives into requirements
• Ensure availability and performance of databases with high resilience and speed
• Perform and assist developers in performance tuning
• Proactively monitor databases for secure services with minimal downtime and orchestrate rollouts/patches/upgrades
• Work within a structured Agile development approach
