Job summary

Amazon.com Services LLC in Seattle seeks a Senior Policy Manager for Chemical & Environmental Compliance to lead the development and execution of product compliance policies across global regulations, including PFAS, heavy metals, DOE and EPA rules.

You will manage a team of junior subject matter experts, partner with legal and product teams, and engage regulators to articulate Amazon's positions while shaping constructive dialogue on emerging issues.

Qualifications

8+ years of professional experience in chemical compliance, environmental compliance, or a closely related regulatory field.
Experience developing and implementing standards, policies and programs or equivalent.
Experience in written and verbal communication skills to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Toxicology, Environmental Policy, or a related discipline.
Deep subject matter expertise in PFAS, Proposition 65, heavy metals, DOE, EPA regulations, or equivalent chemical/environmental regulatory frameworks.
Strong understanding of global product compliance laws and the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, actionable policy.

Responsibilities

Serve as the Senior Policy Expert for chemical and environmental compliance, establishing Amazon's definitive policy positions on product compliance with relevant global laws and regulations.
Lead and manage a team of junior subject matter experts, providing mentorship, coaching, and professional development to help them deepen their expertise and expand their knowledge across compliance domains.
Develop, author, and maintain policies related to key regulatory areas including but not limited to PFAS, heavy metals, DOE, EPA regulations.
Collaborate cross-functionally with legal teams and category teams to ensure product compliance across Amazon's catalog and to align policy positions with business needs.
Engage directly with external regulators and government bodies to represent and explain Amazon's compliance positions, advocate for practical regulatory approaches, and stay ahead of emerging regulatory developments.
Monitor the evolving global regulatory landscape for chemical and environmental compliance, proactively identifying risks and opportunities that impact Amazon's product offerings.
Drive alignment across stakeholders to ensure consistent interpretation and application of compliance policies across regions and product categories.
