Job summary

ICANN in Los Angeles seeks a Policy Development Senior Manager to lead staff support for GNSO and cross-community policy development from inception through Board consideration, providing strategic guidance and developing policy recommendations.

This role demands independent leadership of multiple initiatives, strong analysis, collaboration across ICANN, and mentorship of staff, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience leading international policy development initiatives.
• Fluency in English; additional UN languages preferred.
• Experience advising senior executives, Boards, or international governance organizations is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff support for complex GNSO and cross-community policy development processes from initiation through Board consideration.
• Serve as a primary staff advisor to Working Group Chairs and community leaders, providing strategic guidance on policy processes and meeting planning.
• Research, analyze, and synthesize complex policy, technical, legal, operational, and governance issues, developing reports and briefing materials.
• Facilitate discussions among diverse global stakeholders to advance consensus on policy issues.
• Develop strategic options and procedural approaches for community working groups to navigate policy questions.
• Mentor and guide junior Policy Development staff across the team.
