Job summary

Duke Energy in Covington, KY seeks an experienced professional to negotiate and manage pole attachment and joint-use agreements with third parties. You will interface with Legal, administer inventories, and oversee billing and collections related to pole attachments.

The role requires strong accounting knowledge, contract familiarity, and effective communication. Independent work, planning and leadership are essential to optimize reimbursements and ensure accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred.
  • 7 years related work experience is desired.
  • Detailed knowledge of Duke Energy accounting practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, and ability to work independently.
  • Good planning, organization and leadership capabilities.
  • Experience with contracts and legal documents; familiarity with NESC and codes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and related IT tools.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, prepare, manage and administer pole attachment agreements with third parties.
  • Interface with the Legal Department to develop and modify agreements.
  • Assist with pole attachment inventories.
  • Manage billing and collection of pole attachment fees.
  • Interpret terms of varying agreements accurately.
  • Manage pole attachment database and audit data accuracy with IT support.
  • Handle delinquent accounts and collections when needed.
  • Review and process Joint use engineering contractor invoices and billing.
  • Process new attachment requests and manage related make-ready expenses.
  • Provide guidance to field engineers for reimbursement accuracy.
  • Serve as SME to field engineers on terms and reimbursements.
  • Guide claims investigators on damaged poles.
  • Develop reciprocal pricing with joint owners as needed.
  • Audit records for attaching entities including insurance evidence.
  • Maintain relationships with attaching entities to manage operations.
  • Provide training on systems/tools used for third-party attachments.
  • Monitor NJUNS and ensure timely transfer/removal requests.
