Job summary

Department of Conservation & Recreation in Massachusetts seeks a Deputy Chief of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Construction – Program Manager VII to oversee planning, design, construction, and maintenance of parkway and park road projects.

The role reports to the Division of Design and Engineering, supervising a 50-person Bureau and guiding capital budgets, CIP coordination, and cross-agency collaboration to deliver safe, sustainable public infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Fifteen (15) years of transportation planning, civil engineering or related field with progressive responsibility.
• Five (5) years of leadership experience at the Director/Manager level.
• Knowledge of federal and state transportation regulations and policies.
• Experience with sustainability and multi-modal transportation concepts and practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design and construction initiatives for parkway and park road projects.
• Oversee the Bureau of Transportation, Infrastructure and Construction and manage budgeting and staffing.
• Develop capital budgets and coordinate with CIP.
• Represent DCR on boards, commissions and public hearings.

Education

Professional Engineering license or professional certification in transportation planning
