Job summary

Accounting Search is seeking a Project Manager for Heavy Civil / NCDOT in Cary, NC. You will manage NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects from preconstruction through closeout, leading field teams and coordinating with owners and inspectors.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years as PM of record on heavy civil work, NCDOT experience, and willingness to relocate to the Raleigh area. This role offers a strong backlog and direct line to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as the Project Manager of record on heavy civil, highway, bridge or utility work for a contractor.
• Documented NCDOT project experience as the PM is required. Be ready to name the jobs.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred, or equivalent field experience.

Responsibilities

• Run NCDOT roadway, bridge and utility projects as the Project Manager of record, from preconstruction through closeout.
• Own the budget, schedule, cost reports, forecasting and margin on every job you run.
• Submit accurate cost and income projections and act on variances early.
• Lead superintendents, field engineers and subcontractors to hit production, quality and safety.
• Serve as the main contact for NCDOT, owners, engineers, inspectors and vendors.
• Issue subcontracts and purchase orders and manage subcontractor performance.
• Handle change orders, pay estimates, submittals, claims and contract documentation.
• Run weekly project meetings on schedule and cost, and report performance to leadership.
• Work with estimating on bids and the handoff so the job starts right.
• Keep a strong safety culture on every site.
