Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Rocky Mount, NC is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to develop, implement, and support PLC-based control systems on production equipment.

You will troubleshoot controls, electrical, and sensor issues, and collaborate across teams to maintain safe, high-quality, and efficient operations at the plant. The role requires hands-on PLC experience, strong problem-solving, and communication skills; FANUC programming exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or STEM or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience with PLC-based controls in manufacturing.
• FANUC programming experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Configure, program, and support PLC-based machine controls on production equipment.
• Troubleshoot controls/electrical/sensor issues to restore production.
• Assist in designing and updating electrical control schematics and documentation.
• Execute improvement actions to enhance quality, stability, and uptime.
• Apply change control and maintain revision history for control logic.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality to align solutions to plant goals.
• Support equipment startups, upgrades, and preventive maintenance.
• Contribute to safety risk assessments and implement control safeguards/interlocks.
