Job summary

Amgen is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Systems Engineer (PLC) to lead automation projects within the Facilities & Engineering group. You will drive design, build, and qualification of PLC-based systems for drug substance production and support 24/7 operations.

You will mentor staff, collaborate with capital projects, ensure regulatory compliance, and support start-up readiness for the FleX Batch facility while traveling up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma / GED with 10 years of engineering experience.
• Associate Degree with 8 years engineering experience.
• Bachelor's Degree with 4 years engineering experience.
• Master's Degree with 2 years engineering experience.
• Doctorate Degree.
• Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biotech Engineering preferred.
• Experience with Rockwell automation and process control in biotech/pharma.
• Knowledge of 21 CFR Part 11, GMP, GDP.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Site design, construction, start-up, and operational readiness.
• Collaborate with process engineering to develop automation solutions for PLC systems.
• Ensure standalone PLC systems have proper networking and system-to-system communication.
• Support commissioning and qualification including IV/ACO.
• Mentor engineering staff and support SOPs and CGMP docs.
• On-site travel up to 10% for operations and projects.
• Lead capital projects to integrate new drug substance technologies.
• Lead NPI or new technology introductions and troubleshooting of process control issues.
