Job summary

Alkira is seeking a Senior Platform Services Software Engineer to design and build core backend constructs for its NIaaS platform. You will own complex projects, contribute to architectural decisions, and deliver production-quality platform capabilities used by multiple engineering teams.

The role focuses on backend services and tooling rather than customer-facing features, with responsibilities spanning design, development, deployment, and on-call production support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building production-scale applications and services.
• Strong proficiency in Golang with experience developing production-quality backend systems.
• Experience designing and building APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Strong experience with Linux development environments, troubleshooting, and system-level debugging.
• Experience designing interfaces consumed by other engineers with focus on ergonomics, stability, and documentation.
• Experience developing software for cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
• Strong judgment, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend services, APIs, and platform capabilities using Golang.
• Build cloud-native microservices and distributed primitives consumed by other teams via gRPC and Protobuf.
• Develop and maintain platform tooling (SDKs, CLIs) used by engineers.
• Own complex features from design through implementation, deployment, and production support.
• Improve scalability, reliability, performance, and maintainability across platform users.
• Diagnose and resolve complex software issues in Linux-based environments.
• Turn recurring patterns into shared platform capabilities and reduce one-off work.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and contribute to development standards and testing.
