Job summary

Alkira is seeking a Senior Platform Infrastructure Software Engineer to own the foundational layer used by all engineering teams. You will manage a global Kubernetes footprint, CI/CD runners, and shared infrastructure, while shaping platform services and tooling.

This role emphasizes Go/Python development, Terraform/OpenTofu modules, and mentoring engineers. It requires deep Linux, networking, and cloud experience across regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or SRE with production ownership.
• Deep production Kubernetes experience operating clusters.
• Strong Terraform or OpenTofu experience at scale, with modules for other teams and policy-as-code.
• Strong programming ability in Go, Python, or a comparable language.
• Experience running stateful shared services in production.
• Deep Linux fundamentals and networking knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider.

Responsibilities

• Own the global Kubernetes cluster footprint across regions and clouds, including provisioning, upgrades, and policy enforcement.
• Own internal CI/CD runners and build platforms to maximize build performance and isolation.
• Manage shared infrastructure such as databases, object storage, and registries used by multiple teams.
• Oversee lifecycle of shared platform services (PKI, vaults, Kubernetes operators).
• Design and publish reusable Terraform/OpenTofu modules for other teams to consume.
• Maintain observability stack and production tooling; mentor engineers through reviews.
• Participate in on-call rotation for Platform Infrastructure and drive cost optimization.
