Job summary
Truist is seeking a Sr. Availability & Reliability Engineering Manager to lead a software engineering team responsible for building and advancing resiliency capabilities.
You will drive tooling, observability, automation, and operational tooling in collaboration with cloud, infrastructure, and architecture teams, translating strategic goals into executable roadmaps. You will mentor engineers, foster accountability and engineering excellence, and steer initiatives to strengthen platform
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in software development, with significant leadership experience.
- Advanced management and leadership experience leading teams.
- Developing expertise and knowledge of software architecture, development lifecycle, and technology strategy.
- Preferred: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline.
- Experience leading engineering teams responsible for platform reliability, observability, SRE, cloud engineering, or operational resilience initiatives.
- Experience developing observability strategies using telemetry, logging, monitoring, distributed tracing, or operational analytics.
- Experience with AI-enabled operations, automation platforms, intelligent incident response capabilities, anomaly detection, change correlation, or agentic AI solutions.
- Strong understanding of cloud platforms, modern application architectures, deployment pipelines, and distributed systems design principles.
- Ability to translate technical insights into executive-level reporting and actionable priorities.
Responsibilities
- Implements and refines tactical and operational plans for a software engineering team.
- Manages lower-level managers and ICs responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying software solutions.
- Applies and improves technology standards, governance practices, and engineering methods.
- Provides data and feedback to senior leadership on team performance.
- Develops and coaches managers and senior individual contributors.
- Leads process, tooling, and system improvements within the team.
- Ensures regulatory and policy requirements for software development and deployment are met across the team.
