Job summary

Verition Fund Management LLC seeks a senior Platform Engineer to own Linux infrastructure across private data centers and cloud regions. You will drive kernel-level performance tuning and automation, ensuring reliability for a high‑volume quantitative trading environment.

The role requires deep Linux expertise, proficiency with Python and Ansible, and experience with Red Hat and Ubuntu. You will collaborate across teams to harden security baselines and advance the OS‑platform strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years in systems or platform engineering focusing on Linux infrastructure.
• Advanced experience with Linux kernel internals: core pinning, shielding, bypass, network stack tuning, interrupt steering.
• Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu.
• Proficient in deploying and monitoring with Python and modern configuration-management tools (e.g., Ansible).
• Experience defining Linux security baselines and hardening standards (CIS/STIGs).
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Preferred: Master’s/PhD, C++/Java/Rust, bare-metal provisioning, low-latency tuning, contributor to open-source.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, automate, and operate the firm's Linux fleet across data centers and cloud regions.
• Perform kernel-level and system-level performance tuning for latency-sensitive workloads.
• Build and maintain deployment, configuration, patching, and monitoring automation in Python and modern config-management.
• Own Linux platform components across RHEL and Ubuntu from provisioning to life-cycle management.
• Define and enforce Linux security baselines and hardening; collaborate with Security Engineering.
• Contribute to OS-platform strategy with the Tech Lead, ensuring cross-platform coherence.
• Collaborate with Data Center & Fleet Infrastructure and Developer Tools to unify the stack.
• Provide production support, participate in on-call rotations, and drive reliability improvements.
• Mentor engineers on Linux internals, performance, and automation.
