Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and sustainment of a mission-critical enterprise software platform for an Intelligence Community customer. You will own platform components, drive automation with Terraform/Ansible, and maintain CI/CD pipelines in a zero-trust, hybrid cloud environment.

You will mentor engineers, perform root cause analyses, and coordinate with architecture, cybersecurity, and operations teams to strengthen platform availability

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, with 8+ years of relevant experience; 4 years may substitute for a degree.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Kubernetes or Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Experience across AWS/Azure or government cloud and on-premises/hybrid environments.
• Infrastructure as code with Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
• Experience designing CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across Linux, networking, container infra, and IAM.
• Experience leading incident management and root cause analysis.
• DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II certification or ability to obtain.
• Ability to work rotating shifts on-site.

Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, configure, and sustain enterprise platform components across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.
• Own the technical implementation and operational health of platform components and shared services.
• Develop infrastructure as code to automate provisioning and configuration.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure deployments.
• Implement zero-trust security controls and least-privilege access.
• Lead onboarding for new tenants and ensure alignment with platform standards.
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance.
• Establish observability with centralized logging, metrics, and dashboards.
• Act as senior Tier 3 escalation for complex incidents across compute, storage, networking, and IAM.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across Linux, cloud infra, Kubernetes, and network services.
• Lead root cause analysis and coordinate remediation with teams and vendors.
• Develop runbooks and automation to prevent recurring incidents.
• Coordinate incident response with cybersecurity and operations teams.
• Mentor Mid-Level engineers and Tier 2 staff.
