Job summary

Horizon3 is seeking a Senior or Staff Platform Engineer to join the Internal Platform Team (IPT) and shape the cloud foundations behind NodeZero. This hands-on technical leadership role focuses on AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, and secure, scalable platform delivery.

You will lead cross-team initiatives, define standards, mentor engineers, and build self-service workflows that improve reliability and developer experience across regions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or related fields with production ownership.
• Deep experience designing and operating cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Strong Kubernetes experience including production operations and troubleshooting.
• Infrastructure-as-code and automation with Terraform and Crossplane.
• Experience operating CI/CD and delivery infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of IAM, secrets, networking, and least privilege.
• Proficiency in Go and Python for platform services.
• Excellent communication and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evolution of AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, and shared platform services.
• Define architecture for automation, service delivery, and regional capabilities.
• Build reusable platform capabilities, self-service workflows, and release-safety practices.
• Advance infrastructure-as-code and declarative approaches.
• Improve platform reliability, observability, security, performance, and operability.
• Participate in on-call and incident response, leading post-incident improvements.
• Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across Engineering.
