Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy and scalable across Java/Drools, React/Node/Postgres, Node.js/Temporal, Kafka, and Databricks pipelines.

You will diagnose issues, improve reliability, and implement focused features with a hands-on approach. This role requires 5+ years of software engineering, cloud experience with Azure/Kubernetes, strong observability, and clear communication.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• able to read, debug, and extend Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL code.
• Solid understanding of APIs, event-driven patterns and asynchronous processing.
• Hands-on observability: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting.
• Experience with Azure or equivalent cloud infra, containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Maintenance mindset: health, clean code, durable fixes.
• Clear communicator for engineers and non engineers alike.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance — maintain and support services across the full platform.
• Reliability Engineering — monitor health, investigate issues, resolve bottlenecks.
• Feature Implementation — design and ship focused features and improvements.
• Observability — extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerting.
• Performance and scale — profile and tune components under load and scale.
• Quality — write tests, code reviews, and production-readiness.
• Incident response — participate in on-call, root-cause analysis, durable fixes.
• Collaboration — work with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence teams.
