Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy and scalable.

You will own cross-stack reliability across Java/Drools, React/Node/Postgres, Node.js/Temporal, Kafka, and Databricks pipelines, diagnosing issues, and implementing improvements for long-term maintainability. You will design and ship focused features, extend observability, and drive incident response, with collaboration across delivery pods and Decision Intelligence to ensure durable,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Polyglot: read, debug, and extend Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python, and SQL.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and failure handling.
• Hands-on observability practices: logging, metrics, tracing, alerting.
• Experience operating services on cloud infrastructure with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.
• Maintenance mindset: treat operational health and well-documented code as priority.
• Clear communicator who can explain systems to engineers and non-engineers.

Responsibilities

• Cross-stack maintenance across the full platform.
• Reliability monitoring and incident resolution.
• Design and ship focused features with maintainability in mind.
• Extend observability through logging, metrics, tracing, and alerts.
• Profile and tune components for scale and performance.
• Write tests and participate in code reviews.
• Lead root-cause analysis during incidents and implement fixes.
