Job summary

SmithRx is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the engineering lifecycle across the SmithRx platform. You will champion best practices, large-scale system design, and ownership while driving technical vision and roadmaps.

We value leadership, collaboration, and a strong background in server-side APIs, data processing, and cloud-native architectures. This is a remote role with opportunity to shape a growing Health-Tech platform.

Qualifications

• BS or advanced degree in computer science or applicable experience.
• 12–15 years of software development experience working on server-side applications, API servers, data processing.
• Expertise in Go, Java, or Kotlin is required.
• Experience with relational databases and schema design.
• Experience designing scalable APIs and testing best practices.
• Knowledge of GraphQL, CI/CD, AWS, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable software services.
• Provide scope and risk estimates and create technical design documentation.
• Apply software development best practices, patterns, testing, and automation.
• Leverage AWS technologies (Lambda, Fargate) for batch processing.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis for long-term fixes.
• Coach/mentor junior engineers through reviews and feedback.
• Turn technical vision into a quarterly roadmap with senior leadership.
• Foster a culture of learning through reviews and exploration of new tech.
