Job summary

Sprezzatura Management Consulting seeks a Senior Platform Developer to design, develop, and maintain backend services powering VA.gov. You will build secure REST APIs, reusable services, and scalable platform components using Ruby on Rails, while upholding security and reliability standards.

The role emphasizes collaboration across engineering teams, platform modernization, and operational excellence, with telework options within the U.S. and eligibility for a Public Trust clearance.

Qualifications

• 10 years of backend or full-stack engineering experience.
• Strong Ruby and Rails experience.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs.
• Experience with PostgreSQL or relational databases.
• Familiarity with Sidekiq and background jobs.
• Experience with GitHub workflows and CI/CD.
• Ability to obtain Public Trust clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Ruby on Rails.
• Build secure, scalable REST APIs for Platform and product teams.
• Develop reusable services and shared backend capabilities.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code.
• Improve backend architecture, scalability, and performance.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
• Monitor service performance and reliability.
