Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to keep the NBA platform healthy, reliable and maintainable across the Java/Drools, React/Node/Postgres stack. You’ll diagnose issues, improve performance and implement focused features wherever needed.

This hands-on role requires strong distributed-systems knowledge, observability, and cloud experience with Kubernetes. Remote/hybrid work with occasional travel to Humana offices in Boston area is expected.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems.
• Polygot codebase experience in Java, Node.js/TypeScript, Python and SQL.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, event-driven patterns and failures.
• Hands-on observability: logging, metrics, tracing and alerting.
• Cloud infrastructure experience (Azure or equivalent) with containers/Kubernetes and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Cross-Stack Maintenance - maintain and support services across the platform.
• Reliability Engineering - monitor health, investigate issues, fix bottlenecks.
• Feature Implementation - design and ship focused features across components.
• Observability - extend logging, metrics, tracing, and alerts for production insight.
• Performance and scale - profile and tune for growth and load.
• Quality - write tests, review code, uphold standards.
• Incident response - participate in on-call rotations and root-cause analysis.
• Collaboration - work with delivery pods and Decision Intelligence on long-term ownership.
