Job summary

Metropolis Technologies is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Platform to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems that integrate hardware with machine learning. You’ll work with AWS, Java, Scala, gRPC, Redis, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes, and Kafka to deliver high-performance services.

The role entails building robust backend services, implementing real-time data pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliability and scalability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of backend development experience in platform or core services.
• Proven expertise in Java and Scala.
• Experience building gRPC APIs for service communication.
• Strong design and optimization of Redis and MySQL databases.
• Familiarity with Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka for event-driven architectures.
• Excellent analytical and cross-team communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build robust, scalable backend services in Java and Scala.
• Design and implement gRPC APIs for high-performance data transfer.
• Leverage Redis and MySQL for low-latency data access.
• Deploy and manage microservices on Kubernetes.
• Work with Kafka for real-time data streaming.
• Collaborate with Hardware, ML, and Operations teams to integrate systems.
